A couple of practice routes

Whilst all of us are yet to encounter the mountains of the scottish highlands amongst others, Sevenoaks, as it turns out, isn't a bad spot to start training. The town is built on a number of hills that I've found perfect to start training on. The maps to the right (click to enlarge) show the three routes I've practiced predominantly so far:

Update

Well it's been a long time since the last post, and a lot has taken place since then!

Firstly, we start with some sad news. A good friend of ours at TWGSB, Will Carus, passed away after drowning in the Thames during a kayak race at the end of July. As well as holding a passion for kayaking, Will was a keen cyclist and general all-round nice guy. Myself, Tom and Ed attended his memorial service, and we think it would fitting to honour his memory by donating all proceeds to Epilepsy Action, the charity nominated by his family at the service.

We have also practiced a couple of routes to get started training wise, including a nice 10-mile ride that passes through Sevenoaks town all the way back down to Chevening, before turning around once again. Whilst we'll be facing pretty much an unknown in terms of hills on the way between John O' Groats and Lands End, our 10-mile circuit taken between 30-45 minutes, and hopefully at this kind of pace we should be able to make decent progress each day.

Finally, we have found the Jerseys that we are likely to use, from the website 'cycle-clothing UK'. We have also found a place to print names and logos onto our jerseys, and otherwise we're looking at other options.

Keep checking back to the site for more frequent updates!
